Hexagon diamonds
Hexagon shaped diamonds are great for a modern looking engagement ring and have been a big trend in recent years. Most hexagon diamonds are a step cut, which means they have larger individual facets than you would see on a brilliant-cut diamond, for example, a round brilliant cut diamond. This makes them similar to an Asscher or emerald cut diamond.
We had the pleasure of using a 0.70ct hexagon cut, salt and pepper diamond in this yellow gold engagement ring with diamond shoulders.
The ring was handmade to a tight deadline and we delivered it to the nervous proposer at half time of the Champions League final between Spurs and Liverpool, the night before the couple were due to jet off to Ibiza. Whilst the result didn’t go his way, we were happy to hear a few days later that the proposal went off without a hitch.
To the groom-to-be’s credit, he did plenty of research into what his girlfriend would like and roped in her sister as well as friends to cover all the bases.
We were able to source a selection of hexagon shaped diamonds for him to see with various characteristics. The final selection was a 0.80ct diamond with visible inclusions that do not detract from the stones ability to handle light and sparkle.
We used CAD to visualize the design however the ring was made entirely by hand in our North London workshop.
CAD can help to quickly visualize what the finished product will look like as well as respond to design alterations.
