Day 27

A jewellery design a day

A Large oval tsavorite, claw set in 18ct yellow gold with smaller grain set round brilliant cut tsavorites surrounding.  Pear shaped tsavorites, white and yellow diamonds connecting the main part of the brooch to beaded drops.  Round, drilled tsavorites, yellow sapphires and pearls make up the drops. The Toucan is made from black rhodium plated 18ct white gold, round brilliant cut diamonds, round brilliant cut yellow sapphires and round brilliant cut spessartite garnets, a faceted oval black diamond and one round brilliant cut blue sapphire for the eye.

Gouache render, 1:1 scale

In reality a tsavorite of this size would be incredibly expensive. One of the largest tsavorites ever found weighed in at 325.11ct when cut and was priced at over $2 million.  Tsavorites are rarely found in sizes over 2cts and well-coloured stones command a high price regardless of size.

‘A jewellery design a day’, is a challenge to add one new jewellery design a day to the blog.  All designs are original ideas and are rendered using gouache water colours and a mixture of natural and synthetic fibre brushes.   All design here can be commissioned to be made as items of fine jewellery.
